Howard "Striker" Anderson

Howard V. "Strike" Anderson, age 73, of Merrillville, formerly of the east side of Chicago, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Howard is survived by his children: Dawn Anderson (Kelly Carroll), and Phillip (Stephanie) Anderson, both of Dyer, Indiana; grandchildren, Ashley (Brad) Stevens, Kyle Rhein, Ryan Anderson, Kevin and Elijah Rachubinski; great-grandson, Carter Rhein; brother, Gary Anderson; sister, Judy (Sotirios) Grimanis. Strike is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as in-laws from his late wife Anne.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife: Anne C. Anderson (nee Fiorio); parents, Howard V. and Shirley Anderson, Sr.

Howard was a retired Millwright of the Local Union 1693, out of Chicago. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 20, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, and Gary Sportsmen's Club. Howard was very proud of being an active member of these organizations, and enjoyed being with all of his "buddies".

Watching sports was his favorite pastime, and he was an avid fan of the Bears, Sox, and Blackhawks for many years. Howard also enjoyed fishing.

A Celebration of Howard's life will be held at a later date.
