Social Media & Website Manager
American Legion Post 20 – Crown Point, IN
Position Overview
American Legion Post 20 is seeking a Social Media & Website Manager to maintain a consistent digital presence, promote events, support membership engagement, improve online visibility through basic SEO practices, and ensure accurate online information. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, creative, comfortable managing multiple communication channels, and able to optimize website content for search.
Key Responsibilities
· Social Media Management — Create, schedule, and publish posts across Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms.
· Website Updates — Maintain event calendars, announcements, officer listings, rental information, and blog-style updates.
· SEO Optimization — Apply basic SEO best practices to website content, including keyword usage, page titles, meta descriptions, headings, and search-friendly event updates.
· Content Creation — Design graphics for events, raffles, promotions, and recurring weekly activities.
· Event Promotion — Highlight weekly and special events such as Bingo, Poker League, Queen of Hearts, fundraisers, ceremonies, and community outreach.
· Member Engagement — Respond to inquiries, monitor comments, and maintain a positive, professional tone.
· Brand Consistency — Ensure all digital communication aligns with Post 20’s mission, values, and visual identity.
Qualifications
· Demonstrated experience managing and updating website CMS platforms, including organizing site content, maintaining event calendars, posting announcements, and ensuring pages remain accurate, user-friendly, and current
· Strong writing skills and ability to adapt tone for professional, community, or humorous posts
· Demonstrated graphic design experience creating polished, brand-consistent digital and print materials, including event flyers, social media graphics, promotional visuals, signage, and basic layout work using tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design platforms
· Working knowledge of SEO strategy and website optimization, including keyword research, page titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal linking, search-friendly content structure, and performance-minded updates
· Ability to manage multiple deadlines and respond quickly to leadership requests
· Familiarity with veteran organizations or community nonprofits is a plus
· Comfortable working independently with periodic check-ins from leadership
