September Tidbits from the Auxiliary President

As I prepare for the upcoming meeting, I gather my thoughts on topics discussed, actions taken, and future activities planned. At the conclusion of the August meeting, I had a member comment that it’s nice to have things to do talked about. One of my goals with our auxiliary is to make more announcements of our activities. I’d like to get the word out through our Facebook page and our website. We are a public site; so, you do not need a Facebook account to see the posts. (https://www.facebook.com/Post20CrownPoint). My hope is that gradually we will see more faces at our meetings, attending activities, and volunteering at events- whether it be a special event, Sunday Queen of Hearts drawings, or Friday night Horseracing. I’m sure you will find we are a welcoming group.
What are we up to? Sue Hokkanen has started an initiative, along with the Legion and SAL, working with local recruiters to lend support to new enlistees and their families. We have recently awarded two Junior ALA members each a $500 scholarship award in preparation for their post-graduation studies, and discussions have begun on future events such as Adopt a Base, football tailgate party, and hosting guest speakers. In case you missed it, August 23rd was early bird registration for the 2026 membership year, and I am happy to report we had a good turnout but if you haven’t already done so, please get your renewal in. I had the pleasure of meeting more of our members and I am looking forward to continuing to do so. Fast approaching is the ALA fall conference, and we are heading to Indy! Stay tuned to hear what we’ve learned from our Hoosier ALA sisters. And don’t forget the Post picnic on September 13th!
Our next meeting is Monday September 8th at 6:00 PM in the upstairs hall. I do hope to see you there.
