How Our Poker Tournament Works: What Players Need to Know
Are you ready to test your poker skills in a competitive, fair, and fun environment? Here’s everything you need to know about how our Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament will run, from check-in to the final hand.
Check-In & Eligibility
All participants must check in upon arrival, with ID in hand. Each Player must pay $100 to participate. Before you play, you’ll need to agree to the tournament rules—either by signing a form or acknowledging acceptance during online registration. This ensures everyone understands and agrees to the rules that keep our event fair and enjoyable.
Seating & Table Assignment
Seats are assigned at random when you arrive. Once play begins, seat changes aren’t allowed unless the floor director decides it’s necessary. As players are eliminated, tables may be rebalanced to keep the competition even. When we reach the final table, a redraw will occur, and seating positions are clearly defined for fairness.
Chips, Blinds, and Game Format
Each paid entrant receives the correct amount of chips at the start (71,000)—so count them before play begins! The tournament is no-limit Texas Hold’em, single elimination, with re-buy and add-on opportunities. Blind levels increase at regular intervals, and new limits apply on the next deal after a signal. If you run out of chips, you may be able to re-buy, if you run out before the first break.
How Re-Buys Work
If you lose most or all of your chips early in the tournament, you may have the option to re-buy and continue playing. Here’s how re-buys work in our event:
Eligibility: Re-buys are available until the end of the first break. If your chip stack falls below a certain threshold (less than 2,000 chips), you can purchase a new stack.
Cost: Each re-buy costs $100.
New Stack: When you re-buy, you receive a fresh stack of 71,000 chips. Any chips you still have are forfeited and removed from play.
Fairness: Re-buying gives you a second chance, but you must act before the designated break ends. After that, re-buys are no longer allowed.
How Add-Ons Work
Add-on events give players an extra opportunity to boost their chip stack and stay competitive in the tournament. Here’s how it works:
Eligibility: Players can purchase add-on chips until the end of the first break.
Limit: Each player may buy up to two (2) add-on chips.
Cost: Each add-on chip costs $30.
Benefit: Add-on chips increase your stack, giving you more flexibility and a better chance to advance in the tournament.
How to Use Add-Ons:If you feel your chip stack is getting low or you want to strengthen your position, you can buy add-on chips before the first break ends. Simply let the tournament staff know, pay the fee, and your stack will be increased accordingly.
Why Add-Ons Matter:Add-ons are a strategic option for players who want to recover from early losses or build a bigger stack for the later stages of the tournament. They help keep the game exciting and give everyone a fair shot at making a comeback.
This system keeps the tournament competitive and exciting, giving players a chance to recover from early setbacks while maintaining fairness for everyone.
Player Absence & Blinds
You’re free to leave the table at any time (for a drink, restroom break, etc.), but your cards will still be dealt and folded, and your blinds will be posted. If you’re not present when your second card is dealt, your hand is dead. This keeps the game moving smoothly for everyone.
Conduct & Etiquette
We want everyone to have a great experience, so please follow these guidelines:
No speaking on mobile phones at the table. If you need to use your phone, step away.
Don’t splash the pot—announce your bet and place chips neatly in front of your cards.
String bets are not allowed; make your bet in one motion or announce it clearly.
Verbally announce your actions (call, raise, fold, check, bet).
No “rabbit hunting”—don’t ask to see what cards would have come next.
Don’t show your cards from a live hand during action; doing so may result in penalties.
Tournament Progression & Hand-for-Hand Play
As the tournament progresses and the field narrows, the floor director may move players to keep tables balanced. When only 12–14 players remain, we switch to “hand-for-hand” play. This means all tables play one hand at a time, and no table starts the next hand until all have finished. This ensures fairness as players approach the final table and potential prize positions.
Elimination & Penalties
If you’re eliminated, please leave your seat immediately. Inappropriate behavior, such as throwing cards or disruptive conduct, can result in penalties or even eviction from the tournament. The tournament director has the final say on all rulings and may use discretion to enforce the rules.
Dealer Button & Final Table
The final table of the tournament will use a dealer button, with its starting position determined by random draw. When only two players remain, the button posts the small blind and acts first on the opening round.
Rulings & Final Say
The tournament director is responsible for enforcing all rules and may use discretion as needed. All decisions by the tournament director are final.
Ready to play? We’re excited to host a tournament that’s competitive, fair, and fun for everyone. Good luck, and may the best player win!
