Auxiliary Update
Throughout my life it has been my honor to serve on multiple organization’s boards in varying capacities. The constant has always been constitutions, articles of incorporation, and by laws. When these are challenged, put into question, or not adhered to chaos inevitably follows; which is why I have invited the Indiana ALA Department Constitution & Bylaws Chairwoman Denise Delaney-Wrolen to our meeting to answer any questions and clear up some confusion.
My role as Unit 20 President is to guide our group in our activities in service of veterans. Post 20 Legion currently is dealing with internal issues amongst their trustees and various committees, I remind everyone that although we are of the same family, the Legion and Auxiliary are separate entities. My first and foremost commitment is to the Auxiliary. I implore our members to keep in mind that while we may not agree with actions that have occurred, we cannot let these disagreements distract from our own service and cause further division.
After what I hope is very frank and honest conversation, we can continue with our meeting. Since the September meeting was canceled, there is much to catch up on: the desperately needed refrigerator replacement, upcoming member activities (game nights, and Halloween party), and a review of the new national guidelines for eligibility as well as continuing the discussion to amend our bylaws allowing for hybrid meetings of in-person as well as members joining online. After all, is not a strong, engaged membership something we all hope to achieve.
Please join us for our meeting Monday, September 21st 6:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church 225 S Main Street (across from the Old Lake County Jail).
Please consider attending.
Margie
